I’ve created simple one-off custom plugins for clients in the past, but this is my first plugin that fills a need for a wider world of users.  I use the Shopp e-commerce plugin for WordPress for many of my clients.  It has all the power of a large stand-alone e-commerce platform, yet merchants can manage it fully from their WordPress dashboard.

One gap in Shopp is that it can not be easily shut down for maintenance or vacations without deactivating the plugin.  So I created a plugin for my clients to allow them to do so easily, and allow them to redirect their Shopp pages to another store or a ‘Be Back Soon’ page while their store is closed.
